In an official statement, team media officer Promise Efoghe conveyed Chelle's directives:
"Coach Eric Chelle is not carried away by the win over Rwanda and is demanding maximum concentration from the players prior to the next game. To this end, he has imposed restrictions in and around the team’s camp—no visitors, no journalists."
Sunday's training session was held behind closed doors, with no media presence allowed. Monday's session will be partially open, permitting the mandatory 15-minute media access following the official press conference. Additionally, provisions for mixed-zone interactions with players are scheduled for match day.
This strategic move underscores Chelle's commitment to maintaining team focus and minimizing distractions as the Super Eagles prepare for their upcoming fixture against Zimbabwe at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo.
Fans have taken to social media to express their views on Chelle's decision. While some appreciate the coach's dedication to fostering concentration, others feel that media engagement is essential for keeping supporters informed and connected to the team's journey.
As the match against Zimbabwe approaches, the effectiveness of Chelle's approach will be closely observed, with fans hopeful that these measures will translate into a strong performance on the pitch.
