Israel Intensifies Efforts to Disrupt Iran’s New Funding Routes to Hezbollah

By Fakorede King Abdulmajeed | Fuxma Media | May 19, 2025

Israel is closely monitoring and actively disrupting newly established funding and weapons smuggling routes between Iran and Hezbollah. These efforts come in the wake of the fall of the Assad regime in Syria, which previously served as a key overland corridor for Iran to supply Hezbollah with cash and arms. With those land routes now inaccessible, Iran has shifted to using maritime and air routes to continue its support for the group.

According to recent intelligence reports, Iran is smuggling weapons and large amounts of money to Hezbollah through sea shipments and commercial flights. In some cases, Iranian diplomats have allegedly delivered suitcases filled with U.S. dollars directly to Beirut’s international airport.

In response, Israel has stepped up surveillance and taken targeted actions, including airstrikes on Hezbollah-linked financial centers like the Al-Qard Al-Hasan Association in Beirut. Meanwhile, the U.S. Treasury Department has introduced fresh sanctions against senior Hezbollah operatives and financial networks involved in receiving overseas funds.

Hezbollah is reportedly struggling with a growing financial crisis. Its traditional funding channels have been disrupted, and the collapse of its Syrian ally has left it more vulnerable than ever. International efforts, especially from Israel and the United States, are making it increasingly difficult for the group to access funds and weaponry.

This tightening pressure reflects a broader regional shift and growing international cooperation to limit Hezbollah’s influence and cut off its external support, particularly from Iran.
